There are more than 30,000 deaf and hard-of-hearing students at colleges across the country, according to the Center on access technology of the national technical Institute for the RIT’s for the deaf, who will manage the project. At Cornell, there are 17 students are deaf or hard-of-hearing and eight people who study science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, according to the University.
